Environmental Statement
At Springhill, environmental responsibility is at the heart of what we do. Managing Director Geoff Nemec is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (CIWEM), qualifications that represent the highest level of professional recognition within the water and environmental sectors.
As water and environmental managers, we are conscious of the impact our activities have on both local communities and the wider environment.

We continually review our environmental performance and seek opportunities to reduce waste, conserve resources and minimise our carbon footprint.
REDUCING OUR IMPACT
Our Environmental Initiatives
Our current environmental activities include:
- Weekly recycling of cardboard
- Weekly recycling of paper
- Safe disposal of UV lamps
- Recycling of glass, jars and bottles
- Refurbishment and reuse of fittings and stone gravels where appropriate
- Re-use of packaging materials
- Low-energy lighting throughout our premises
- Refilling printer cartridges
- Use of recycled paper wherever possible
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Environmental Audit
Following a detailed independent environmental audit, the follow-up report concluded that Springhill had taken significant steps to recycle materials used by the business on a day-to-day basis and was adopting a responsible approach to reducing its carbon footprint.
The audit also identified opportunities for further improvements, and we continue to explore ways of reducing our environmental impact across all areas of the business.

We remain committed to identifying practical ways to lower our carbon emissions and improve environmental performance. This includes investigating opportunities to further reduce the environmental impact of our operations and vehicle fleet.
SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL ENVIRONMENT
River Calder Conservation
Environmental responsibility extends beyond our business activities.
We have adopted a section of the River Calder in Sowerby Bridge and are committed to supporting local environmental initiatives. This includes participating in regular river clean-up campaigns organised by Calder Future, helping to protect and improve the local environment for future generations.
